Crete has the richest and most ancient concentration of historical sites in Greece. You'd never know it from Sitia though.

Sitia is a modern beach town, and a pleasant one at that. Near as I can learn, the only real site/sight is a Venetian fortress on the hill above town.

By Cretan standards, that is practically modern.

All the doors are locked to the rest of the fort - i.e. besides the grassy courtyard.
