Rhodes, Greece
A frustrating picture day - partly cloudy with a stiff wind.
As a result, I lost many pictures when the light disappeared before I could get my camera out, on, and aimed.

Didn't lose them all though.

I've never seen this place looking open or active, though somebody does seem to live here.

It is a bit hokey looking, wonderfully photogenic, and on the way from home to a lot of other places. And cats hang out here.

Views from a battlement between the ancient and modern harbors, which proved convenient, as we shall see in a few pictures.

That is a light fixture embedded in the battlement wall. The old city is a visual treasure; no point letting folks miss it just because it is night.

None of Hamlet's goats apon the battlement today, but hey, you can't have everything at once.

Look what wandered into town today. We go weeks between these guys now. This is one of several identical cruisers that call here. I need to read the name to know which it is.

As I was passing the yacht harbor, I saw our little buddy Herakles Star the tugboat leave his berth and bear toward the cruise ship harbor.

On a hunch, I climbed the next convenient battlement (see above), and waited. Eventually  our visitor MSC ("Monster Sea Cruises") Magnifica began to back out of the harbor. No sign now of Herakles, who had disappeared behind the big lady.

When Magnifica finally had room to manoever on her own, she backed further out to reveal Herakles, looking like he was facing her down.

As I say, she backed off, leaving only sky  above the harbor where she had sat mere minutes before.

Score one for Herakles!
