Rhodes, Greece
November already! Have I really been here only a month? It feels seamless with the many
years on the island.
Happy All Saints Day for the Europeans, and Day Of The Dead for the Americans! And
Happy Month to the good people here in Greece!
Tonight's page is dominated by recent wiggle water impressions from Kolonna and
Mandraki harbors here in Rhodes town.
OK ... up for air! Back to the home neighborhood. St Fanourios Street is a picturesque
photo-magnet. I understand the arches originated as reinforcement against earthquakes.
Live Greek folk-blues ("Rebetika") on Sunday Nights at Home Sweet Pub.
Winding rhythms and modal scales.
People here turn out
for live music, and I love them for it.
Each trash collecting station has its own colony of street cats around it. Local volunteers
keep the critters fed. They work with periodic teams from Germany to catch-neuter-release the cats.
It must help reduce the numbers, but there are still way too many.
Are any biology majors looking
for a term project? Find an oral contraceptive (or a gene-drive!) for cats.
A place in the Sun!
Behind: the ruins of the medieval Basilica of Archangel Michael.
