Before we hit the road, here is the sound man at a delightful house concert in California featuring local bands and excellent people. A welcome R&R before getting on the long flight to Barcelona en route to ...

... Rhodes, Greece; my winter hang-out and second home.

Under the stickers, the sign says No Swimming in Greek, English, and German.

October is "shoulder season" here. If the crowds (and mosquitos) swarm less thickly than in Summer, there are still plenty of both. A month from now, these shops will be shuttered for the Winter, but "this is not that day"!

Getting by with a little help from her friends.

Up in the New Town, north of the medieval city. This area is dominated by cafes, hotels, and especially shopping.

You could live easily in this part of town without ever learning a word of Greek. though you'd be silly to waste the opportunity.

In the maze of residential back streets of the Old City.

Hotel Eliquis?!?
Not quite, but I did look twice.

Eating crow, so to speak.

Modern cruise ships tower over medieval cities.

This little family-owned cafe is a gem, just inside one of the city gates.

It just registered on me that the stop sign is in English. Do signs in Greek not work?
