I am typing this on a pleasant October evening in Rhodes, Greece.
It is time to wind up last Summer's pictures.

On the Nekarkanal.

Bet you Bay Area folks didn't know that BART runs all the way to Vienna!

Gluten-free Bakery
If they say so.
A Mexican restaurant in the hard-core tourist zone. It was closed and non-functioning
this season, and appearances didn't look like they were
too happy about it. By the time I left in mid-August, the window had been wiped enough
that the text was no longer legible.
Villach, Austria
Have you travelled by train from Vienna to Italy? If you've done it more than once, you may
have decided to break the journey mid-way!
The Austrian Alps provide several
good stepping-stones. This one is Villach.
We are closer here to Italy and Slovenia here than to most of Austria. This is one of the few
places outside Slovenia where I see the Slovene language on signs.
Cafe on the river Drau, which changes its name to Drava when it enters Slovenia,
not far down river. The cafe is a bit pricey because the location is worth it.
A classic Austrian style restaurant a bit outside the tourist district. A fine dinner to welcome
a traveller who had spent way too long that day on the train from Vienna.
Waddya know?
The circus is in town!
I didn't mess with it at the time; I kind of wish I had.
Bathroom humor in an Austrian hotel room.
Sing loudly in peace!
There may be deliberate wordplay here;
ruhig also means "silently", an oxymoronic juxtaposition to laut.
The city center (i.e. the Altstadt) is a half-mile or so from the station. This cheery monument greets
visitors as they make their way into town.
