Rhodes, Greece
Fall has been mild here. I toyed with not replacing the jacket that I left in California.
Until today! The season has caught up with Rhodes. Tomorrow (Monday) a cheap clothing store
is on the agenda. Injun Summer has come and gone.
A short stack of pictures tonight. My replacement camera has been a disappointment.
I'll order a real one on line when I get to California. Meanwhile, USB transfer of pix from my
phone no longer works. Who knows - not I.
Paris:
Snack bar on a Fall day.
Rhodes:
The Grandmasters' Palace.
Those guys always got the prime real estate.
I pointed it out once to a Swiss six-year-old, who gave it a hard stare for a few seconds,
and snorted, "that's not a palace! That's a castle!" I said, "You are right. But still,
this castle is called The Palace.
A big cruise ship, and a humongous one in early October. Now in late November, they have all
migrated to their Winter habitat, wherever that may be.

VENDING MACHINES

Notice that - as usual here - potato chips go by their British name.
Late October evening on the main tourist shops street.
Most of the people are gone, but the lights are
still on. Now in Late November, most shops are shuttered for the season. Like a movie set waiting
for the next film shoot. Probably the shopkeepers are welcoming the break.
Moonrise over the Old City walls.
Since it is a full moon, it rises while the sky is still fairly light.
Shallows of the harbor.
There is a silver lining to the cold turn of the season here; this should finally rid
us of the [insert your own expletive] mosquitos. Thems as don't hypothermiate should blow off
to some other island in the gusty winds. Noah should never have let those little muthas on the ark!
I dunno if I have enough pictures in the archives for another post this season.
Happy Solstice to everybody!
