Rhodes, Greece
As I type this, there are still a couple hours left on Christmas day, which has been cold, brilliant,
and cloudless. Tonight's images are from the last week or so, but not the rainy parts.
Greeks spend the holiday at home with their families. Home Sweet Pub was not even open
this afternoon. But as midnight approaches, the place is filling fast with people and voices,
noise and cheer and human warmth, if not actual temperature. By midnight, it will be elbow-to-elbow
in the common room, and typing will be impossible, to say nothing of antisocial.
Down By The Water
My fellow American regular here in Rhodes. She is a Summertime denizen of our island. I come
for the Winter, so we never overlap by more than a couple of months. We are the only American
regulars in our colorful little community here. Lotsa Brits, Scots, Scandinavians, Italians, and
other Continentals. And of course plenty of honest-to-goodness Greeks!
A texture ...
... and a pattern.
Then and Now
Remember this picture? Windy Beach, early last month.
Windy Beach last week. Anybody out there in sunwear now would be a human popsicle.
Gak! It's The Yeeglz' Greatest Hits time. If there is a more played-to-death-for-forty-years
band, I don't want to hear about it.
A sunset selfie at the St Catherine Gate
Another texture, a (sort of) Monochrome Mondrian.
The day's high temperature (~53 F).
Some cafe on the Windy Side. Love those chairs!
In memory of Elvis ... Blue Christmas.
Happy Last Week of the Year!
