Rhodes, Greece
A belated Happy New Year to everybody!
A big treat for good friends here in the Old City: their classy little boutique hotel
has been named on Trip Advisor as
Best Small Hotel in Greece! A well-earned honor! Congratulations to the
hard-working crew at
Spirit of the Knights Boutique Hotel!
The news is ... not much. Winter has finally become seriously cold. Night time
tempertures around freezing, tody's high was in the 30's F. OK, so it won't
impress anybody who is digging out from the east coast blizzard, or under water
in England. I don't own any clothing fit for a freezing day with a stiff wind.
At least the sun is bright.
I don't envy the couple of dozen freelance cats who live in the breakwater at Mandraki
Harbor these few days. They have been huddling against the wind in whatever niches they
can find. I suppose feline pecking order has something to do with who gets what spot.
Bougainvilla on the edge of the moat.
Do I still need to identify this as the entrance to the ancient harbor?
The littlle Muslim cemetary, near the city hall.
As a (former?) transplant candidate, liver in wine on the
menu board inspires a wry shudder in me.
Sculpture at the south and ...
... north ends of Mandraki Harbor.
Water!
Water everywhere!
S'what happens on an island.
Umbrella stands at the beach at the north tip of the island.
In the Summer, they stand out on the beach itself, full of ... well, beach umbrellas.
Tonight's evening picture.
G'night!
