Rhodes, Greece
Despite taking almost no photos the last two rather cool days, I am sitting
on fifty or so candidates from the days before, including our first rainy
day of the season. (Already!)
If I were to take great time and effort, I could probably organize the
photos by theme or something, but I took them as they came, and I'll show
them as they look best on the page.
That familiar Rhodian motif, a monster cruise ship towering over the old
city.
A shop window near the Muslim cemetery, near the entry to Mandraki Harbor.
The gardens of the Grandmaster's Palace,
... just outside the moat from the palace itself.
The season's first rainy day did not rain all day. It held off until
mid-afternoon, in the middle of my exercise walk, then let loose in the
style of the tropics.
A mere half hour or so of downpour, plenty to soak me through. Fortunately,
not too cold.
I know I showed this fuzzy-tailed bush a few days ago, but I like this
picture of it better.
Another Thursday, another trip to the street market between the moat and the
municipal stadium.
Highway in the sky
The medieval city walls are open to visitors again this season, at least for
now. Tuesday through Friday, 12:30 - 3:00. Kind of stingy hours, but I am
flexible. A well-spent €2 for a walk along one of the broadest streets in
the old city.
The huge Costa cruise ship is a twin or nearly so to the one that
famously grounded and sank off of Italy less than two years ago.
There are weeds, bushes, even a pair of shade trees growing up there on the
city wall.
