Rhodes, Greece
I've been posting a lot of fruit and veggie pictures from the Thursday
market, but this isn't that, so to speak. This is a little greengrocer's
just inside the
Red Gate. They must have a short run for stock every week, since the market
is just outside the gate.
Speaking of the Red Gate, here is part of it from below in the moat.
I see a lot of this view; the moat is a convenient place for exercise walks,
to say nothing of jogging, and dog walking.
Further along the moat, this wide grassy area outside the D'Amboise Gate is
a favorite place for dogs to play off-leash.
One-point Perspective
Stanley, stop playing with that camera and come and eat your breakfast!
Was it only a year ago that I posted
this photo
of two ents dancing on the solstice? It took me some time to recognize them this
year, even though I knew where to look. They have re-grown most encouragingly.
I've been told that trees grow - and re-grow, very quickly here, which
leads people to pruning that would be butchery in most places. The soil is
unusually rich in nutients for "historical reasons" (i.e. septic tanks).
Socratous Street, the main tourist shopping street is all but a ghost
street now. When I arrived in September, it was thick with shoppers and sightseers.
Gak! Hotel California is on the house muzak.
The self-describing pop song: you
can check it out, but you can never leave it.
That's all, folks!
