Paris, France
Imagery - August & September 2022
Mid-August, and the French bullet train has brought me to Paris
in one swell foop, so to speak.
My room this time is on the eighth floor, just about roof level. Thanks to an elderly
bladder, I am awake to see the rising sun light the city from behind me. It is some
compensation for being awake at an ungodly hour.
If God had intended me to function in the morning, he would not have put it before
noon!
A plaque identifies this figure as Francois Arago, director of the Paris Observatory.
As the classics say...
... "It's Canard Season!"
Mid-August is blue sky season. (Bless its heart!)
Sunset in my base neighborhood in the 14th Arrondissement.
The usual twelve-hour flight got me home with admirably few adventures.
A few medical activities, family activities, and plain ole goofing off.
Somebody's outdoor decoration in my California neighborhood.
Paris in late September - colder and darker than mid-August, but all these Thai
restaurants popping up provide a tasty indoor activity. My first rule-of-thumb test
for Thai eateries is their tom kha gai. Despite the silly name, this place passed
the tom kha gai test with flying colors. I hope to return!
Two weeks free time before I am due in Greece. I had though to meander across to Vienna
to fly to Greece. A few days in Late September killed that plan. Northern Summer is
gone. Life is too short to shiver in the gloom unnecessarily.
So... here we are at the Gare de Lyon, to board a train for Nice on the
Mediterranean. It might be brighter; it might be warmer. In any case, I haven't been there
before. Avant!
