Nürnberg & Prague
Imagery June 2022
A hot (95°F) afternoon in Bratislava, the Slovak capital,
cooling off just a tad now in the evening.
I rode across town today to the only laundromat in the
city! Fortunately, it is a first class laundromat - friendly, spotless,
helpful staff. Not the one-of-a-kind cool of Andy's in Prague (cf
below), but I am so grateful that it is still there, unfazed by covid and
economics. It would be disappointing to go back to washing a few items with
me each day in the shower!
That said, my pictures have not caught up with my body.
Today we finish up Nürnberg, and look at Prague.
Nürnberg
A handful more of Pegnitz Pix - then we'll make our way east.
Heart of the Altstadt on a Spring afternoon!
Worth savoring!
The shape of water - beautiful stuff - as much so in Franken, Germany as
anywhere!
Praha!
We'll be here for the rest of the page.
A wonderful city for wandering, but this time, I spent
most of my week there in bed, trying to sleep off a steenkin' head cold that I
picked up my last night in Nürnberg. Oops!
World's Coolest Laundromat, hands down!
Andy's Laundromat in Prague is a legend among budget travellers,
and rightly so.
Laundromat?!?
So where are the machines?
I heard you. I dropped a picture of the actual washers, because this page
already has more photos than usual. Any laundromat has washers and dryers. Andy's
has a cool lounge with couches and armchairs, books, free made-to-order coffee(!),
helpful multilingual staff, and comfy vibes.
Relaxed and retired - enjoying his peace out of the limelight!
BREAKFAST ALL DAY
River gonna take me, sing me sweet and sleepy.
... - R. Hunter
Smetana composed a famous tone poem describing the river Vltava
under its German name Moldau. By whatever name, the river is a major
show-stopper
in a city rich in show-stoppers.
An island park under one of the Moldau bridges.
Over the Charles Bridge ...
... and under it. Everything a tourist needs.
A major park, off the tourist circuit. There are more than three days worth of
more important things things to do in Prague. After that, most tours move on to
Vienna or Budapest or Somewhere. So Havliček Gardens is filled mostly with Praggers.
