Nürnberg, Germany
Imagery June 2022
My phone has spoiled me; it's virtual keypad has pop-up "keys" for
those German letters that are such a nuisance to copy-paste on my laptop
computer. I cannot compose these photo pages on my phone, though, so
I need to use 'workaround" spellings for many of the place names in Nürnberg,
including the city's own name. I'll cut-and-paste correct them before posting,
but if I miss any,
you will know why Nuernberg is spelled with an "e" instead of an umlaut.
That said, here we are, back in one of my German sweet spots. A favorite
stepping stone between western Europe and central.
A spacious park-like walk along the medieval wall-top in the upper part
of the Altstadt. The things you'd never know about without local friends!
Murphy's Scofflaws! Climbing / sitting up there is forbidden for a reason -
it is an easy slip on those mossy stones, and a long hard splat. Buncha kids!
Me, I am much too old
to be immortal.
Still atop the old wall.
Can't believe it took me this long to discover this Nürnberg treat!
Multilingualism in the heart of town
Sadly, I know better than to expose my liver to an honest-looking Greek
Taverna.
Lorenzkirche's twin spires tower over an Altstadt boulevard.
(Not, as I said earlier, Leopoldkirche! Mea culpa.)
My nomination for coolest subway (U-bahn) entrance I know.
"I say it's duck season!"
Nürnberg and its river - the Pegnitz - work beautifully together.
Part of the Pegnitz above the Altstadt, the Wöhrder See.
One of several beaches on the Wöhrder See.
Back in the heart of town.
