Nerja, Andalucia, Spain
I'm outta here in two days, so this is surely the last from Nerja for now.
The end of February is noticeably milder than the start. The equinox is on its
way, even if it has some way yet to come.
The mountains are close to town here. Close enough that we share the weather.
When it rains in town, it snows up there. It can look incongruous to see people
frolicking on the beach and in the ocean, with snowy ridges behind them.
Something else that happens when it rains down here.
There is something oddly picturesque about the cascades of apartments
that flow and splash up the canyons and the hillsides here. So much of
the surrounding Costa is just walls of hideous high-rise blocks.
Nerja gets off well this way.
Crummy lighting, little improved by my attempt at flash. I still like the
sign though, so I am using it.
The busness hours of an amiable Irish ex-pat who has never learned even
rudimentary Spanish vocabulary... or business practices. Every Spanish-operated
business I have dealt with here has been scrupulous about posting and keeping
normal business hours. Usually something along the
lines of 10:00 - 2:00 and 5:30 - 8:00.
Siesta is observed here, for reasons more obvious in July and August
than in February.
Aaaarghh! Hotel California! I had almost gotten through an entire
round in Europe without it. Le sigh...
That is it for now.
I'm back to California for March, for the usual scans, scopes,
prescriptions, et al.
See you in April from - finally! - Rhodes.
