Imagery - Granada, Spain (2012)
A rare advantage to being 75 years old: I've had both of my Pfizer shots. It is some relief
to shop for groceries without feeling like my life is at risk. Doesn't help for travel, though.
An awful lot more people need to get their turn before Life As We Know It returns.
Which leaves us back in 2012 in Granada.
Today's theme is the liminal corners of the city, outside the big set pieces. No
Alhambra here, no grand plazas and cathedrals. The low-profile spots.
The residential streets of the Albaycin, the old arab neighborhood. Moorish
style windows mark the houses here. Down on the main streets are tourist versions of Arab
tea houses ... with wi-fi.
Rooftops in my little base neighborhood beneath the tip of the Alhambra. More below.
A mini-plaza somewhere in the maze of the Albaycin.
Paseo de los Tristes ("Mourners' Walk"). Once a tradional funeral route, it is
now a wisteria-decked plaza, and hangout spot, in the gorge between the Alhambra and the
once-Moorish Albaycin neighborhood
OK - one Alhambra picture, looking up from Paseo de los Tristes.
My digs, or at least their classy stairwell. A friendly pension - both
budget and personally - with an ice-cream cafe! And walking distance from all the
interesting sights.
Cuesta de Gomerez
a cool little street, that
leads from my doorstep right up to the Alhambra.
More Granada to come.
(Those plazas and tourist sights need their turn.)
