Imagery - Granada, Spain (2012)
It's May 2012, and the aptly-named Sierra Nevada ("Snowy Mountains") loom behind
a ridge above Granada, Spain
Atop the ridge sits Granada's great tourist draw, the last and greatest of Spain's Moorish
royal palaces.
The Alhambra complex is such a big deal, that you need to give it at least a look, before you can relax and enjoy the rest of Granada.
So... here we are!
From a palace window: the Albaycin, the colorful and historic Arab neighborhod,
now well-touristed.
A set-piece reflecting pool leads toward the palace gardens.
Wisteria abounds, the usual lavendar variety, and also yellow and white variations.
We'll see more of the Alhambra in the next page or two, but first, a peek at the Albaycin,
that maze of old streets that we glimpsed from the window above.
We are here on a local holiday. Several small plazas compete with religiously themed
decorations.
Albaycin architecture abounds with reminders of the neighborhood's Moorish past.
We are not done with Granada!
Hasta next time!
