Today we keep the flashback machine set on 2010.
Wha... Prague again?!
Not so fast - this is way too small to be Prague! This is no more than a town
in the Bohemian hills, name of Krumlov. Officially Český Krumlov
("Bohemian Krumlov"), because there is another Krumlov, in Moravia ("Moravsky Krumlov").
This storybook town is a victim of its own success. Less than a hundredth
the size of Prague, little Krumlov is the second-biggest tourist magnet in
Czechia. In Summer, the streets can be elbow-to-elbow. Fortunately, I was there
in April; the sun was iffy, but the town was a treat.
The heart of town is a near-island, in a loop of the river Moldau - a
much smaller, younger Moldau, hours of travel upriver from Prague.
Painted walls
Some are actually painted, some just leave areas unplastered, revealing
darker stone beneath.
On this wall, the windows are real. Everything else is painted.
Intermission
The last for now of the England pictures.
By the sea in Bournemouth, Devon.
In the heart of Frome, Somerset.
Next: more of Český Krumlov.
