The time of Covid-19 is still apon us all, so these pages are still escaping
into the past decade or so of wandering.
Today, we pick up where we left off in Split, that
dazzling city of central Dalmatia.
In the Palace
Within the walls of Diocletian's palace, an abundance of more ordinary building has
grown over the centuries.
Harborside
By night ...
... by day.
Stroll Along the Shore
Toward the beach ...
The Adriatic is famous for sparking clear shoreline waters.
Famous beaches, and no sand in sight!
To a Californian, that sounds like a riddle..
Like most of the Adriatic - indeed, the Mediterranean - Dalmatian beaches
are usually made of pebbles. Europeans don't bat an eyelash. Sometimes "beaches" are
just concrete slabs! As long as you can walk into the ocean, it counts as a
beach. And the ocean is a delight. Enjoy it on its own terms.
Signspotting at the beachside cafes.
Back at the Harbor
These ripples are boat sides, not sea bottoms.
The sun goes down on another set of Split pictures.
See y'all next time!
