El Puerto de Santa Maria, Andalucia, Spain
I wanted someplace neat in Spain that I hadn't been before. The Cadiz area was an easy
option. I settled on the quieter town of El Puerto de Santa Maria, across Cadiz Bay from Cadiz
itself.
El Puerto de Santa Maria does have a port, but the beaches are more interesting. For real
port activity, go across the bay to Cadiz.
By a yacht harbor. I dunno what the wall was for, but this was better than blank concrete.
A wicker-like fence near the beach.
Fountain at the Plaza de toros.
However you spell it in whatever language, I was real glad to find a "wash 'n dry" in
Puerto de Santa Maria.
OK, so is it a calle (street)? Or an avenida (avenue)?
Eventually, I figured it out: Ave is not "avenida" - it is "bird". Bird of Paradise Street.
It looked like a couple were living in this old boat, so I did not intrude further.
Sure am glad they got that gluten out of the tuna and onions!
In the bar / restaurant section of my hotel.
An afternoon in Cadiz
At the mercado in Cadiz. Three beers on a signboard. Two are Spanish, but top
billing goes to Staropramen "La Checa" - the Czech (beer)!
A fountain in a plaza in Cadiz.
A cute little building. The colors look almost Greek. What is it? So help me, a plastic surgery.
Tarot i mans? That isn't Spanish!
True 'nuff, it is Catalan. This picture is from
Barcelona, on an overnight stop between Spain and France.
