Frankfurt is not a major tourist destination. Its reputation is one of steel and glass skyscrapers.

Most travellers use Frankfurt for its airport and train station, and ignore the city itself. I have spent nights here only when I have a flight the next morning.

This time, I spent an extra day before my flight, and explored the city a bit.

I had no problem with Frankfurt. There are more than a day's worth of places to go and things to see. There is even a street with lots of international eateries for your taste buds.
.
That said, if you have two weeks to see Europe, or even just Germany, there are more rewarding places to spend them.

Römerplatz is the only place I came across that looks distinctively German. So much so that it almost looks contrived amidst all the modernism.

A friend who understands no German read this as When Willie does the hand jive, I'm in the Sugar Shack.. That make the reality almost disappointing.

Where there is a will, there is a shoe business.

When most shopping malls around the world have pretty much the same chain stores and brand names, how do you induce people to come to your mall instead of any of the dozens of others? A wormhole through the building was enough to make me curious,

Inside, I found the same old predicable chain stores, plus a welcome rest room and a whole bunch of fun photos.

Here are a handful of the most fun.

Some architect with a computer design system must have had a ball here.

Not a mural - a window.
That is Frankfurt outside.
