Bratislava, Slovakia
I am singing the Old Short-Timer Song again in Bratislava. Laundry tomorrow
(Sunday), then Monday I am outta here. Bus to Vienna for a night, then trains
to Linz, Frankfurt, and Paris. Ten days after leaving Slovensko, the long flight
home to Nortecalifas!
Let's see what is in the picture drawer for Bratislava!
A new sign this year
on St Michael's Street, the historic, picturesque
heart of the tourist trap zone.
Now "permanently closed", the Kyjev Hotel is said to be where
Communist bigwigs gathered, back when bigwigs here were Communist.
The big circle is definitely post-communist. It just showed up in the
late twenty-teens.

Approaches to cool ...
... in the hot season.
Heart of the Old Town, near St Martin's Cathedral.
The East is red outside my window, at some ungodly hour before going back
to sleep.
Always good for the soul, Horský Park.
Afternoon chess in Hviezdoslav Square
Old City Hall, the inner courtyard. This was July,
which I think was Pride Month.
Attention: as a pedestrian a crosswalk gives you right-of-way
except over trams! A tram ("električka") always has right-of-way.!
Even if I had right-of-way over a tram, I wouldn't push it. Dead right is
just as dead as dead wrong.
Across the lazy river.
Stroll down the south bank of the Danube, from the New Bridge to the Old.
Returning across the (newly rebuilt) Old Bridge
