Bratislava, Slovakia
Late June through August is a warm time of year in Bratislava. That said, 40's C counts
as a Hot Spell. We had a couple of those while I was there this year. The misty arches around
the Old City were a winner. (40 C = 104 F)
Tuning is not a crime.
When I saw this, I took it for some kind of music reference. I tried googling it, and found many references,
mostly FaceBook pages, all in Slovak, all automotive. Seems as it is some kind of car organization that
sponsors events. Racing, maybe? If any of my Slovak friends know, feel free to enlightn me.
German is full of words that sound like comically different words in English. A Fahrt is an
excursion.
German?! Yes, we are now in Vienna for the afternoon.
At the Prater.
No Trauma Shock here, unless you are allergic to chocolate.
Chocolate Dream is what it says.
Unlike its counterpart in Prague, Vienna's mirror maze has a big picture window on one side.
Here we are looking into the maze, and also at some reflections in the window.
I forget who this fellow is. Some historic figure, perhaps a conductor or a religious figure.
(Vienna is one of the few European cities where a musical connection is more likely than a religious one.)
Cave Train
One summer in my misbegotten youth, I drove a ride of that name at the Santa Cruz
Boardwalk.
*Poit!*
We are now on the other side of Vienna, at the Schoenbrunn Palace, summer
home of the Habsburg emperors and Empresses. Specifically, we are in the Palmenhaus, the giant
imperial greenhouse.
On the palace grounds at Schoenbrunn.
Looking in.
*Poit* again!
We are back in Bratislava for the rest of the page.
The old Castle from the (new) Old Bridge.
What nicer way to finish than a stroll along the Danube?!
Do I need to say that this is the end of today's page?
We are all big kids here; you have surely
figured it out.
See you all next time!
