Taormina, Sicily
Imargery - April 2023
Editorial guidance from nature tonight. I scroll through candidate pictures from Taormina,
and a buch of them are signs. It is time for a sign-spotting page!
In a place with as long and varied a history as Sicily, the claim to "original t-shirts" gives me a
giggle.
I know, I know - Ortigia is a famous neighborhood in Siracusa. Nonetheless, this artwork
adorns a shop in Taormina. Neat stuff, too!
BRIDGE NOT PRACTICAL?!? Read it more slowly! BRIDGE NOT REACHABLE. Oh of course -
that explains everything!
Two Streets named for men who were executed and burned by Church authorities, roughly a century
apart. Savonarola for calling out corruption in the church, Bruno for promoting the sun-centric
model of the solar system.
Ten years after Bruno's execution, Galileo Galilei discovered strong evidence for Bruno's idea.
He believed that Mr Buno had only gotten in trouble because he had lacked evidence. This mistake led
to Galilei's own troubles with the church.
Roberto Chemi's Pastry Lab
I couldn't make this stuff up!
I suppose parapharmacy compares to pharmacy the same way paranormal
compares to normal.
Golden Fleece Hotel.
The Way of Leghorn
"Pay attention to me, Boy!
I'm not just talkin' to hear my head roar!"
Morlachia?!? The Morlocks had their own country? Who knew?! :)
What did I tell ya, two pages ago in Cefalu?
I did see another of these in Taormina!
The poor schmucks who work there must get real tired of hearing all of the obvious plays on
the name. Also the non-obvious ones. I'm sure they get them all way too often.
