Rhodes, Greece
There was a bit more to yesterday's walk up the acropolis hill.

The old circus at the acropolis.

three ruined pillars and a piece of roof cactus that looks not quite like a cholla
I took way more photos than necessary of Apollo's photogenic old temple.

North from the acropolis is a picturesque way back to town.

I haven't noticed this species of cactus before here in Rhodes. Don't know its name either. It reminds me of Arizona chollas, but not quite-

Now we know where he hangs out when it isn't Christmas. None of that North Pole stuff for St. Nick.

Still up on the hill, we cross a residential neighborhood.

Finally, our hill ends with a drop down to the northern tip of the island.

That just might be Simi across the water, but I think it is Turkey. (Google Earth isn't working for me tonight, or I would check it out.)

Next day: I checked - it is Turkey.

The New Town (Neohora) down there is dominated by tourist hotels, shopping, and a casino.

Back again in the old city. As long as the afternoon sun shines, Romios restaurant's patio is a gold mine of this sort of pictures.
