Rhodes GR
Las Vegas NV
Most of tonight's Rhodes pix are still from October, when the warmer temperatures
somehow inspired more photos (and when I hadn't already shot everything on my daily
routes a dozen times. More on that later.)
Here we are in the de-facto dog
park in the medieval moat, under the bridge of the D'Amboise gate.
That is the Grandmasters' Palace behind the wall.
The little pergola outside the only functioning mosque (is it still?)
in the Old City.
The park-like strip between the medieval moat and the Old City. My private
name for it is The Wood Between The Worlds, after C. S. Lewis. (I believe my sis
first suggested that it looks like Lewis' wood.)
The civic Christmas holiday decorations have gone up this week. Somehow they fit right
in with the living furry decorations.
Time for a break.
Looking over a few dozen Rhodes photos, candidates for the rest of this page. All
nice enough pix, and every one looks like something I've already posted at least
twice since
I arrived. Got myself a case of the In A Rut Blues!
So ... now for
Something Completely Different
Yup.. Las Vegas Ever-Lovin' Nevada
August 2025, I was kicking around California
feeling antsy. A week in "Lost Wages" will take your mind off of
almost anything else, and it
is only an hour flight. What the hey!
Airlines talk about "mood lighting" to keep up passengers' spirits on long flights.
For my money, they should take a tip from this LV shopping mall!
(Well,
drop the shopping part), This simulated evening sky is uncannily relaxing.
My Humble Opinion - Your Mileage May Vary.
Doesn't this look like something Escher might have drawn, before he got into the joy
of impossible shapes?
I'd have gladly eaten here if I had been there at a meal time.
Amid all the surreal
kitsch, this simple shack looked downright exotic.
(At least if you don't think too hard about lobster fishing in the desert!)
Not to worry - we'll be back to Europe.
A little of Las Vegas goes a long way.
