Rhodes, Greece
The Camera Adventure
was not settled near as easily as I thought.
I got the new camera all set up and charged, and headed out to fly it.
(Aside: I've discovered that it is almost always a mistake to leave
home without a camera on a sunny day in Rhodes .)
So... frame a neat picture, push the focus button; everything is sharp
and beautiful. snap the shutter, and wha... the picture goes out of
focus. Fuzz, ah say fuzzy, that is.
As Gandalf said, "This won't do".
Won't perhaps, but it kept on doing, nontheless.
The bottom line is that I returned the camera to the store this evening
after siesta, and got a similar one, except that the new(er) one uses
AA batteries instead of a rechargeable one. No more calls to my
brother-in-law to bring a spare camera battery when he comes over.
So far the new(est) box seems to work fine. I haven't tried it yet at
1600 x 1200 , my usual resolution. If that works, we will be back to
the main problem of finding new subjects for photos in a place that has
already provided more than 350 images for these posts, according to
Photobucket.
None of the pix on this page are from the (new) new camera. I didn't acquire it until after dark.
Changing the subject, I am amazed sometimes at how oblivious I can be.
(I know: you'd think I'd have noticed by now. That's oblivious for
you.)
I have spent close to a year altogether in Greece at one time and
another, and only learned within the last week that businesses here
observe siesta. Two to five pm, stuff closes up. I only learned when I
tried to returm my bum camera and the store was closed. Apparently
tourist-oriented shops, and a few others, are open whenever tourists
are around, and I never learned better.
Hope I can find a cinema showing Deathly Hallows when it is released in
a week. The movie houses here seem to do mainly trashy action and
thriller flicks.
See y'all later.
