Rhodes, Greece
Weeks later,
the western wind I mentioned last time is still blowing. It is still keeping the mosquitos
at bay (yay!), but the temperatures have crept upward. We
reached 31°C today - call it 88°F. In the desert, that would be delightful; in this island
humidity, it is just a bit uncomfortable. People working indoors, like cooks or shop clerks,
have my sympathy, if only because I have nothing more useful to offer them.
OTOH, the evenings outdoors are a delight!
This odd pattern of contour lines is the reflection of a mesh net, hung vertically on
a boat. The
vertical strings reflect strongly, the horizontal ones less so. Mine not to reason why ...
On my usual wintertime visits here, there are few if any people in the
ocean. Not so now! This fellow is not even at a regular beach. He is just off the rocks
between the St Paul Gate and the Mandraki windmills.
The Moat:
Crossing it ...
... Looking into it ...
... walking in it ...
... jogging in it.
