Rhodes Town, Greece
Today's Theme: Pairs
An experiment today: I'll organize the pictures in pairs, so that one
in each pair sheds extra light on the other. Context or something.
F'rinstance, this house next door to my bar away from home.
That ledge under the windows is where
this cat is perched, watching the world go by.
Between the poinsiettas and the hibiscus (pl. hibisci?), this is the
season for bright red flora in Rodhos.
This statue is to some real hero of a modern Greek war, either the war
of independence or the resistance in WW2, I never got straight which.
He is holding a grenade, ready to heave it at the baddies.
The Birds is coming! Or High Anxiety. Take your pick.
The first week of the new year appears to be National Amazing Sunsets
week in Rhodes. We have had four or so since NYE. These pictures
are from Monday Jan 4.
The Gate of the Yawning Maw.
You can always count on Mandhraki Harbor, the ancient port and modern
yacht harbor, for fun pictures.
As long as the sunlight lasts, anyway.
And that's the way it is in Rodhos, as we idle away our month here in
a room over what has to be the best neighborhood bar in the old town.
See ya when I get the next quorum of photos
together.
In a couple more months there would be
a bad joke in here about Pairs In
The Springtime. But you are spared it now because it is
January.
