Rhodes, Greece
Winter has finally turned cold by Rhodes standards. Rain is forecast
for tonight, becoming torrential tomorrow, then remaing for a few days as merely
rain. As usual, that lets me catch up on recent rain-free pictures.
A stroll along the Kolonna and Tourist harbors
Not everything along the harbor front is boats and reflections.
A corner of a bus stop shelter between the city wall and the tourist harbor.
The St Paul Gate, connecting Kolonna and Mandraki harbors, for pedestrians.
Cars use the road through the nearby Arsenal and Liberty gates.
Some time after this week's predicted rainstorm, I should put together a page
on the eleven
gates of the old city.
The boat yard, at the foot of ...
... the ferry pier.
There really are ferries in the garden here!
The Virgin Gate, with the remains of the Naillac Tower at
the end of its breakwater, part of the defenses manned by the French contingent
of the Knights of St John.
In the distance, appropriate to the season, the round-towered Fort of
St. Nicolas.
Herakles, the little tugboat that can
and does, did yet again yesterday.
Mission accomplished.
