Rhodes, Greece
Christmas week has been mostly overcast in Rodhos. Let's see some pictures from the week before.

The Usual Start
The view from my window on a sunny morning. That makes it at least a week ago right there.

"tuxedo" cat luking by stone breakwaterold-ish buildings across yacht harbor
Down at the yacht harbor, looking out past the cruise ship pier to the ferry pier.

That ferry out there is Blue Star 2, the boat I expect to ride to Pireas / Athens in a few weeks.

Blue Star 2 is a hefty enough boat, but it is dwarfed by cruise ships like Brilliance of the Seas, which was docked at the cruise ship pier today and ten days ago. Real floating disneylands, those.

One of many homeless cats at the yacht harbor. The poor critters act torn between being afraid of strangers and wishing they had a friend.

Hooded crows. They are everywhere here, even more than seagulls.

"Seven stars, seven stones, and one white tree."

The stars have been scarce recent nights, and you can choose any seven stones you like among the big mortar balls in the moat. Here is the tree though.

See the arched bridge across the moat in the picture just above? This is the gate through the wall at the end of it, leading into the old city. One of three back gates.

The palm tree grows up alongside out of an inner section of the moat. Perhaps it is trying to grow tall enough to see out over the wall.

This bush isn't going to see over anything, but it does get sun when there is sun to be gotten.

Right across the corner of the square outside my room is one of the many mosque-skeletons in the old city. Its former footwashery is the picturesque arched pagoda that features at the start of this post, (and a number of others I've sent).
