Ptuj, Slovenia

Another misty day; it really is that season.

The first two pictures are looking out my window. The folks next door are rapidly doubling the size of their house. When I arrived, there was a foundation marked off. Now there are two stories and a roof. I've seen only a couple of guys working on it, but they sure work fast.

From the dining room, we have a south-facing balcony with potted plants, a view of the castle, and such sun as there is, which was fortunately pretty good on the day I did my laundry, which you see drying out there on the balcony. Hey - a run-on sentence. Maybe I can get a job as J.K. Rowling. Naa... I would also need something to say

Here is the back yard. Speaks for itself.

Here we are, heading for the door for a walk into town. Ahead is our dirt road and the castle, behind, the house we'll return to tonight.

The old town is beneath the castle. We need to go left or right and down the hill. This time we go left.

There is a kindergarten-age school here.

red flowers that might be poppies, but not california poppiessign: tusmobil

I assume the the star over the "s" on this sign is a cute graphic arts way of representing "š".

So, um... what do you suppose a tushmobile is?

"Vogue Eyewear - Hippie Play!" with hollywood hippies

It is inconspicuous in this photo, but the word HIPPIE in this poster just jumped out and annoyed the bejeezus out of me.

Good to get some practice now and then at rising above the superficial. In fact, how far do you need to rise to be above the one-dimensional? How do you comb a hairy billiard ball?

There are 10^11 stars in the galaxy. That used to be a huge number. But it's only a hundred billion. It's less than the national deficit! We used to call them astronomical numbers. Now we should call them economical numbers.

rooftops and multi-bulbous towerleaves (blackberry?) peeking up through storm drain cover

What have we here, peeking up through the slots of a storm drain? Looks almost like blackberry leaves.

Some kind of mint, maybe?

You have to admire its irrepressible spirit.
