Paris, France
Setting Out
More pictures from the quest for creme brulee in the Marais.
A couple of kids in the Hotel lobby wanted to be in a picture.
Who am I to refuse?
On The Bus
A sunny day by the Pont Alexandre III
The empty and lifeless shell of the grand old Samaritaine department store.
It will be missed
by countless visitors to Paris, despite having operated at a loss since the
1970's.
The Louvre
A wall facing the Seine.
An entryway to the central courtyard.
You saw it here first, folks.
Who else shows you The Louvre through
the window of a bus?
Rue Rivoli
Off the bus.
All but one of the remaining pictures on this page are from the Rue Rivoli, where
it forms the main drag of the Marais.
Yup - Starbuck's and Ben & Jerry's on
the same corner. This is far from the only
Starbuck's - or B & J - in central Paris.
This door with a grill is the "one image" I mentioned above not from Rue Rivoli.
I think it is back in my base neighborhood on Rue Daguerre.
As the sun gets low, even ordinary street fronts look dramatic.
