Hania, Crete, Greece
Happy Thanksgiving from Hania, Crete
A small fistfull of pix that didn't fit anywhere else.
old door wide open, vine-covered balconyold wooden inside stairs
Heading out the front door...

...and looking back up the creaky  stairs to my room.

5 clotheslines with sheets drying dead maple-like leaf on white tile floor
I just learned today that my guest house has a roof terrace of sorts. Nothing fancier than a clothesline and junk storage, but it is there.

While we are here, what is this leaf? It is slightly bigger than my outsplayed hand. Not quite any maple that I know. Not a sycamore.

Later: it seems to be an Oriental Plane Tree. Runner-up candidate: Field Maple.
Thanks everybody who helped with suggestions and research.

Signs of the Mind
placard with pllatinnum-haired modelplacard for bar near, buut not on the harborfront
This placard looks strikingly like the Facebook "signature" image of an old and dear friend and worthy former colleague. (Careful here; she'll probably be reading this.
*-- grin --*)

A bar with attitude.

A Fountain in the Modern Town
lumpy vertical water jet with dark tree backgroundreflectied fountain jet in puddle on rim
big sugar-sprinkled donuts two guys on a park bench talking
These Greek sugar donuts are about twice the size that we Americans would consider normal. They are everywhere in Greece.

A couple of guys having an animated conversation in a park outside the old city wall. Not angry mind you, but the fellow on the right at least was using his hands passionatly  as well as his voice. If I hadn't been able to hear him, I'd have thought he was speaking Italian.
