Glasgow, Scotland
imagery June 2025
When I came to Scotland, I hadn't planned on visiting Glasgow. A Scottish friend in
Rhodes changed my mind, and I thank her for it!
I reached my hotel an hour or more before check-in time. The desk clerk invited me to
sit comfortably in the top-floor bar, reachable by elevator from this neon corridor.
The bar in question.
They came up with a cappuccino for me, and I reached my room
without further adventure.
The Clyde - Glasgow's signature river - a spot where you don't even need to buy
an espresso to sit and hang out!
Around Central Station.
U. Utah Phillips liked to say, "No Root, no fruit!", Here we see both.
An oblique tip o' the hat to
The Walk Inn back in Rhodes, Greece.
Blessings
on George, The Crew,
and all the regulars,
regardless of age, sex, or species!
This is a fire alarm! Please leave the hotel immediately by the nearest
available exit! I grabbed my sandals and phone, descended the stairs with my fellow
hotel guests through the neon-like corridor, and out the back door into an alley.
We all made our way around to the front. The Scottish fire truck showed up within minutes,
and minutes after that, we got the all-clear to return to our rooms. Was the alarm triggered
by some idjit smoking in bed? One of my fellow guests insisted so.
Does every Scottish city have a really cool laundromat? This one was well worth the bus ride
out to the west end Kelvingrove district. A busy shop - sheets drying on lines
under the third-floor ceiling, hoisted on pulleys. The nice lady cleared out a washer for me
- and later a dryer - and made it easy. No space in here to sit with a cappuccino - that is
what the Greek cafe next door is for! A fine couple of hours in a colorful neighborhood.
It wouldn't be a major city without these folks.
Exuberant ironwork fronting some central building.
An interloper:
Finsbury Square, London.
Not Scotland at all, but I like the
picture.
