Zadar, Croatia
I still have the talent. A gorgeous day this morning for travel, I reach
Šibenik and find a room, and later this afternoon, clouds and rain. The
forecast this evening was for sun and warm days the rest of the week, but
the forecast's track record hasn't been that great this season here on the
Croatian coast.
I don't have any Šibenik pictures yet to show, so here is the last handful
from Zadar.
Bocce Ball
I have found the old game in many countries, always - just as in my youth
with my Italian relatives - played by old men. Always men not women, and
always old, not young or even middle-aged. A dying art, I guess, but not
dead yet, even here in Croatia.
A nice day down at the sea organ, people relaxing with the low song of the
built-in wood-wind chimes.
Home away from home had a grape arbor over the carport, lots of trees and
plants in the garden.
I don't know why my photographic attention focused exclusively on this
hydrangea.
In the previous post, I said we would leave Zadar fading into the sunset.
Well you know what? The sun set there again!
So here it is: the real last sunset from Zadar for this season.
I've claimed for some time that no matter how beautiful a sunset may be in
real life, a photo of it is going to be boring unless you silhouette
something against it. So here I am now, seduced by my own photo into
thinking I am some kind of exception; my plain old sunset looks
really good! The human capacity to believe one's own b.s. knows no limits.
Next: Šibenik for sure
because I am already here.
