Sevilla, Spain
I have three days left now on my four-days France/Spain rail pass. The first day earned
its keep solidly starting Wednesday night in Paris with an overnight sleeper train to
Barcelona, followed the next day by two Spanish bullet trains to reach Sevilla.
Two thousand and more km in all, and worth every micron of it.
My home away from home this week, Pension San Benito Abad, is tucked at the
end of a lane so narrow that two people holding hands could flat-palm the walls
on both sides.
This sign made it easier to find.
The street outside, Santa Maria La Blanca, bustles with one-way traffic, cafes,
tapas bars, a hole-in-the-wall grocery store, and an amazing number of people speaking
American English.
Sevilla is not on most Americans' travel radar; where do these folks
come from?
Seven stars, seven stones, and one black-and-white tree.
More to come.
