Rhodes GR
A pair of cafe / restaurants the south end of Mandraki harbor...
This one on dry land is more of a cafe.
This one floats on the harbor itself. In the 2010's it was destroyed in situ by
a freak whirlwind, that left most of the surroundings untouched!
For the next few years, there it wasn't!
Then one year, it was back, as if nothing had ever happened.
Mysterious are the ways!
More eating opportunities.
Classic Greek fast food - gyros take-away by the bus station. Greasy, crowded, and tasty.
I learned the Greek word for (raw) onions, specifically so I could order gyros pita without
them!
In the Old City, near the tourist harbor. Sandwich-board menu in English, pictures of
the dishes, lovely setting. I walk past this place most days, and I still don't remember its
name. Closes at the end of the tourist season. It will vanish within a month, and re-appear
next Spring.
Another helping from the endless trove of wiggle water at the harbors of Rhodes Town.
A big honkin' cruise ship ...
... and a glass-bottom sightseeing boat.
A more modest cruiser, behind some private yachts.
The twin columns of the Marine Gate guard the Old City entrance from the tourist harbor.
On Fall / Winter afternoons, the San Francisco Gate catches the low afternoon Sun just
perfectly! I could flood these pages with as many shaft-of-light pictures as I do wiggle-water.
On Sunday nights, I never need to go out for music - traditional Greek rebetika
comes to me, right downstairs, in the outdoor courtyard when the weather permits.
A perk of living above a simpatico pizza pub with a local following.
That low winter sun has a talent for turning human hair into halos.
And we bid you Good Night ...
... Good Night ...
Good Night!
