Rhodes, Greece
A solid afternoon of rain today. This is rare in Rhodes. Rain here rarely lasts more than
a couple of hours. Often it is come and gone in 30 minutes. Not today. Reports of crazy bridge
closings and cars trapped on the road to the airport.
We'll see a lot of sunset pictures tonight.
November was a good month for sunsets.
Two nights later:
Another annoying evening. After a days break, the rain is back tonight.
Another emergency phone message: in the municipalities of Rhodes, Ialysos and Kallithea, stay indoors
because of heavy rain. The rain let up about the time the message came through, but the runoff has yet
to run its course, so to speak. I am grateful that for me it is only an annoyance. I am typing without
a wi-fi connection, listening to Beethoven Symphony #9 on my little bluetooth speaker. I'll post this
tomorrow. Many poor souls here are worse off tonight.
All of tonight's pictures are from before the storm arrived. A cool but beautiful Autumn in the
South Aegean.
If you hung out in circles like mine in the 80's you know that you can sing "Clementine" to
the Ode To Joy. Part of my brain is hearing Deine Zauber binden wieder... as
Oh my darlin', oh my darlin'...
Even by cloudy daylight, the Old City of Rhodes offers interesting pictures.
(If nothing else, the are always cat pictures. :) )
Passing a neighbor's front gate in the evening.
This little alley probably has a name. I just know it as a side alley off of Sophokleous
Street.
