Rhodes, Greece
Vintage photos tonight, folks! I procrastinated this page, partly for the holiday season,
and now they are last year's photos!
That, said, Happy new Year from Rhodes! Stay warm and healthy!
Pebble puddle in the medieval town.
Tendrils on a biggus ficus in the square out front of home.
The Mandraki Waterfront
As for warm, Mother Nature is sort of helping.
December's cold snap lightened up on New Year's Day (Protochronia among the locals).
The last two two days have been golden, mid 60's F.
Spring it isn't, but what it is is welcome enough.
Old Town flora.
Rhodes has abundant Hibiscuses (Hibisci?).
I think they are a semi-official emblem.
Mandraki harbor abounds in wiggle water. All I need to do is aim and snap the shutter.
The (abandoned) little Byzantine church of St Spyridon. I have shot so-o many sunsets past that spire.
The church is (was) Orthodox Christian, however much its spire looks like a "mini-ret".
Stormcrow The Grey.
Whimsical sights in the Old City.
I believe these are the tug boats parked at Kolonna harbor. They escort cruise (and other)
ships through the underwater maze that has fortified the harbor since ancient times.
Pebbles! Sometimes they aggregate into streets, sometimes into beaches.
Unlike some parts of the Mediterranean. Rhodes has both pebble beaches and sand beaches.
Plenty of both.
So ... here we are - 2022, ready or not!
Stay warm! Stay healthy!
Hang on to your
heads!
