Prague, Czechia
I'm a week in to Bratislava already, so here is the last page from two weeks ago in Prague,
so I can start catching up on who knows how many places in the few weeks before that.
Mala Strana is the "small side" of the river in Prague. Today's pictures are mostly
from there.
High and low on Mala Strana Square,
A visit to Saint Nicholas. That is the dome of his Charch, a landmark on Mala Strana Square,
across the street from my apartment, and visible from all over the city.
The walkway along the square, lined with tourist bars and restaurants. An un-roofed one
right outside my apartment was pretty nice. I ate there several times. My only grumble is that
all their non-alky beers were fruit-flavored. At least the waiter grinned when I said that
I would have preferred beer-flavored beer.
Up on the Hill Where they Do the Boogie.
High above Mala Strana... the gate of Prague Castle, where Czech leaders have sat for centuries.
These days the president lives in there somewhere.
A nearby landmark building, the Schwarzenberg palace. Notice all the painted-on decoration.
Between Mala Strana Square and the Charles Bridge.
The gate leading on to the Bridge itself.
The Moldau
"Gonna plant a weepin' willow.
By the bank's green edge it will grow, grow, grow."
"Listen to the river sing sweet songs, and rock my soul."
Life in a bubble:
Literal (and littoral!)...
... and metaphorical
A couple of odd signs.
Nothing wrong really with Mexican fast food. I just wonder how "Mexican" it will be. I'll
probably never know - it is the last thing a Californian goes to Central Europe to eat.
This seems to be advertising some kind of Oriental art gallery.
I hope it isn't as grim as the title makes it sound. Isn't Seppuku
the traditional Japanese "honorable suicide"?
That is it for Prague, at least for now.
I'll be here for a few days on the way home in August.
Na Shledanou!
