Round & About
Apr-Jul 2019

Tonight's pictures have all appeared in the ephemeral world of Facebook. Here they are, for posterity, and for the hardy independent souls - bless you all - who have so far resisted the fasciobiblial lure.

Spain in April and May

The ever-seductive city of Sevilla!

Happy May Day in the Alameda de Hercules

A rubber tree spreads its roots between earth and sky.

Toledo, Spain

If you only saw the sky line in this view, you could almost mistake it for Bratislava Castle, up there on its bluff over the river, but the Rio Tajo isn't the Danube, and that is definitely not the New Bridge crossing it.

Old Toledo is the usual twisty maze of medieval streets. A short-but-real one of those streets is Calle de Toledo de Ohio - Toledo Ohio Street! Go figure!

Nürnberg, Germany in June
An odd street is Breite Gasse. For one thing the name itself - Broad Lane - sounds like an oxymoron. For another thing, well... what are the well-dressed worms wearning in your town?
Mind you the birds in this region are all Lutherans; they were raised on a Diet of Worms.

None of that Lutheran stuff for this jackdaw! He lives in Františkový Lazně, Bohemia, in the (mostly Catholic) Czech Republic.

Bratislava, Slovakia

A bubble busker has been working the long, lovely Hviezdoslav Square this summer. If there is a cheaper way to bring more joy to more kids, I don't know it!

Even seventy-year-old kids!

Now that the slugs near my apartment have these gurgling fountains, the play of light and ripples can be endlessly entertaining! (Well, endless for a few minutes at a time. You know what I mean.)

When you were a kid, did your grown-ups teach you to always hold a grown-up hand when crossing the street? I imagine they did - you are still here!

This "street" is actually the newly rebuilt Old Bridge across the Danube.

This really is Bratislava Castle, and that is the Danube in front of it.

There is a Blue Danube Waltz. There is some truth in it. If you reflect a blue sky at the right angle, the big brown river really does turn blue temporarily!
