Bratislava, Slovakia
One last flashback to Barcelona - this lacy spire was irresistable.
Now for Bratislava and some wordplay!
The anglophone punster in me loves this street sign in the old city.
It looks enough like Preposterous to tickle my funny bone.
NO PAR KING
Potlatch! In old North America, it would be a big party to
give away all your extra posessions. This sound-alike word in Slovak
means "printing onto", as in t-shirts (tričká) and dresses.
If anybody knows what mikiny are, by all means let me know.
My little pocket dictionary makes no mention of them. (Hmm... my waiter
says “sweatshirts”. At least he showed me a picture of one on his phone.
His English is about like my Slovak, so there is room for imagination here.)
By the Water's Side ...
For the rest of the page, we are by the Danube, fortunately de-mosquito-ed
each Summer. Most of these images are from a fairly new shopping mall
and promenade. It is a photogenic place, which I have milked shamelessly
for images over the years, and intend to again.
A sign nearby says that this path is part of a 10km bicycle loop,
up this side of the Danube to the Lafranconi Bridge , and back
along the other side to the Apollo Bridge.
This is not post-processing run wild. Her hair really was that color!
Behind her is the Apollo Bridge, which brings that 10km bicycle route
back to here.
Here is a novelty: a picture from the
New Bridge, itself one of
the most iconic photo subjects in the city. The sun on the Danube here
looks almost galactic.
The rest of the page has little to say.
It is pure lyrical imagery,
which of course does not require lyrics.
Just let the light lead the dance, and
"listen to the river sing sweet songs".
